Cultural Dialogue China EUNIC
EUNIC(European Union National Institutes for Culture, http://www.eunic-online.eu/) is the network of the international cultural relations institutes from the Member States of the European Union. EUNIC's members work in the arts, languages, youth, education, science, intercultural dialogue and development sectors. They create lasting partnerships between professionals, to encourage greater understanding and awareness of the diverse European cultures and to encourage greater language learning.
The tradition of organizing the initiative called "Cultural Dialogue China EUNIC" reaches back to the year 2008, when the very first of the conferences took place in Beijing, China. Two other conferences followed in 2009 and 2010, in Copenhagen and Shanghai respectively. The Goethe Institute, the British Council and the Danish Cultural Institute have been at the origin of this initiative together with the Chinese National Academy of the Arts.
The "Cultural Dialogue China/EUNIC initiative" is a "people to people" project with China on a European level.This initiative as well as its "Compass" Manual which was first presented in Luxembourg during the 4th Cultural Dialogue are standard setting instruments for the Cultural Cooperation with China.
The 4th edition of the Dialogue was successfully held in Luxembourg in October 2011. Before the actual beginning of the conference on October 25th, there had been a full week with 20 curators and artists from China and Europe in residence at the Neumunster Cultural Centre in Luxembourg, working together in three different fields: photography,installation art creation and design work creation.All the artists were actively participating in the program activities,contributing with insights and explaining the project work accomplished in the course ofthe previous week during the conference which took place from October 25th - 28th.
Unlike the preceding three events, the Conference "Cultural Dialogue China EUNIC 2011" broke free from conventional,strict program standards of key speeches and presentations and devoted considerably more importance to actual creation, interaction between the participants and face to face discussions in small working groups during the conference.
The conference itself was dedicated to the following subjects: "Art and Finance", "Cultural Heritage Protection and Urban development", "Functions of Cultural Centers in the Process of Urban Re-construction", "The Role of creative Industries in the Strategy of Sustainable Urban Development" and "The Role ofArts in the 21st Century".
As the coordinator of the 4th Cultural Dialogue, I have been asked to coordinate also the Sth Cultural Dialogue which is going to take place in Xi'an in April 2013. An advanced team of EUNIC representatives has met in Xi'an together with representatives from CNAA and the local partners in Xi'an in September and November to work out the practicalities for the 5th Cultural Dialogue China/EUNIC. My contribution at the Melbourne Conference will try to highlight the lessons learnt from the Luxembourg Conference in 2011 and the actual state of preparation of the 5th Cultural Dialogue in Xi'an.

中国-EUNIC文化对话
EUNIC（欧盟文化中心合作组织http://www.eunic-online.eu/）是由欧盟成员国组成的国际文化关系机构网络，其成员从事艺术、语言、青年、教育、科学、跨文化对话和发展工作。他们在专业人士之间形成了长久的合作伙伴关系，来鼓励对不同欧洲文化的更多了解和更多的语言学习。
组织此项被称为“中国/EUNIC文化对话”的举措的传统可以追溯到2008年，当时在中国北京举行了首次会议。之后，于2009年和2010年在哥本哈根和上海分别举行了另外两次会议。歌德学院、英国文化协会、丹麦文化中心以及中国艺术研究院成为此项举措的发起单位。
“中国／EUNIC文化对话”是在欧洲层面与中国开展的一个“人对人”项目。此项举措以及在第4次文化对话期间在卢森堡首次提出的指导手册是与中国进行文化合作的标准设置工具。
第4次对话于201 1年10月在卢森堡成功举行。会议在10月25日实际开始之前，来自中国和欧洲的20名策展人和艺术家在卢森堡新明斯特文化中心用了整整一周来开展三个领域的合作：摄影、装置艺术创意、设计作品创意。在从10月25日至28日举行的会议期间，所有艺术家都积极参加了各项活动，提出了自己的见解，
说明了前一周所完成的项目工作。
与前三次活动不同， “2011中国／EUNIC文化对话”会议摆脱了常规、严格的方案标准，例如主旨演讲和介绍等，而是更加重视会议期间的实际创意活动和与会者之间的互动以及分工作小组的面对面讨论。
会议本身的主题包括“艺术与金融”、 “文化遗产保护与城市发展”、 “城市重建过程中文化中心的功能”、 “创意产业在可持续城市发展战略中的作用”和“21世纪艺术的作用”。
作为第4次文化对话的协调人，我应邀协调将于2013年4月在西安举行的第5次文化对话。由EUNIC代表成的一个先遣小组将于9月份在西安与中国艺术研究院代表和当地的合作伙伴开会，制定出第5次中国／EUNIC文化对话的日程。我在墨尔本会议上提交的论文将重点介绍从2011年卢森堡会议获得的教训和西安第5次文化对话的实际准备情况。
