Richard TRAPPL

Bom in Vienna 1951, Richard Trappl had studied Germanic Studies, English andSinology at the University of Vienna. From 1974 t0 1975 he had studied Chinese language in Beijing.After getting his Doctorate in Vienna University.

1978 he became Lecturer for Chinese, Assistant, and Assistant Professor at the University of Vienna and Lecturer for Chinese at the Austrian Diplomatic Academy. After his habilitation in Sinology 2003, he became Associate.

Professor in Sinology,and since 2006 Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Vienna. From 1997 until 2011 he was Representative for China Affairs of the University ofVienna, Since 2011 he is Honorary.

Professor at the Chinese University of Political Science and Law,Beijing.

Since 2008 he participates in various EU-China dialogues. Among his focuses in research and teaching are Chinese classical and modern literature, translation and terminology Studies, and Chinese-Western Intercultural Studies.

Civilization Dialogue and the spirit of Chinese Culture

The paper stresses the necessity for deepening and broadening cultural exchange between the Chinese worldand the "West". Its argumentation is based on personal observations as director of the "Confucius Institute at the University of Vienna" and as an active participant in two dialogue structures between EU and China - the "EUNIC(European NationalInstitutes ofCulture) - China Cultural Dialogue" and the "EECS (European Economic and Social Committee) - China Dialogue". The presentation reflects the conditions, procedures and possible aims of cooperation and exchange programs between China and Europe in the field of culture and education. Methods of introducing Chinese culture in the "West" in the contemporary era are critically analysed.

李夏德

李夏德于1951年出生于维也纳，在维也纳大学学习英语和汉学，并从事日耳曼研究。1974至1975年在北京学习中文。1978年获得维也纳大学博士学位后，曾任该大学汉语助理讲师和助理教授以及奥地利外交学院汉语讲师。2003年获得汉学大学任教资格，成为维也纳大学汉学副教授，并于2006年任该大学孔子学院院长。1997至2011，任维也纳大学中国事务代表。从201 1年起，任北京中国政法大学名誉教授。

从2008年起参加各次欧盟——中国对话。研究和教学方向包括中国古典和现代文学、翻译和术语研究、以及中西方跨文化研究等。

文明对话与中华文化精神

本文强调加深和扩展中华文化与西方文化交流的必要性。它的论证是基于作者作为以下职务的个人观察：维也纳大学孔子学院院长以及欧盟与中国之间两种对话结构——“EUNIC（欧盟文化中心合作组织）——中华文化对话”和“EECS（欧洲经济和社会委员会）——中国对话”的积极参与者。这份报告反映了中国与欧洲之间在文化和教育领域的合作和交流项目的条件、程序和可能的目标，并批判地分析了在当代西方介绍中华文化的方法。
